Promoting a Safer Church

As a church we have adopted the House of Bishops ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ policy and the Parish Safeguarding Handbook.  Full details of our safeguarding procedures, including details of our parish safeguarding officer, can be found on our website.

Reporting a concern

Any safeguarding concerns in a parish should be brought to the attention of your local Parish Safeguarding Officer(s) (PSO) in the first instance, who can seek further advice from Sharon Hassall, the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA), as necessary.

Safeguarding concerns in a school/university/prison/healthcare setting should be raised with the relevant organisation's Safeguarding team. If the concern involves one of our chaplains, please also contact Sharon Hassall direct.

Sharon's contact details are:

Telephone: 01254 503070
Mobile: 07711 485170

windowSt. Cuthbert's Church

is situated on the south side of the village on the Nether Kellet/Lancaster Road. There has been a church on this site since 1251 and the present building dates from the early C13th with additions made in C16th. The seating consists of 'box pews' which were fitted in 1819. The East Window, which fills the church with colour, even on a dull day, was installed in 1868 and makes a valuable contribution to the atmosphere of peace and calm which fills this ancient building. However, St. Cuthbert's is very much a church for the new millennium.
