About the Society
The Society was founded in 1943, to run an annual show which has continued almost every year since. It is an open show but with local classes in addition.The Society has developed over the years and now has a regular programme of talks, visits, and sales which contribute to its overall aim of promoting horticulture.
It is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society and is a member of Westmorland & North Lancashire Federation of Horticultural Show Societies.
Membership is open to all, on a household basis so that for one very modest sum as many as reside in the house may all register for membership. Members can take advantage of discounted sales through local suppliers and from an annual bulk order placed with a wholesaler.
Current information about the Society is displayed on a notice board in the entrance of the village hall, but members are kept up to date with a newsletter, "Dig This".
