Having grown up in Over Kellet I can safely say that the values I inherited were due to the happy lifestyle I enjoyed there from around 1954 to 1972. It was all so free and simple then and I have to say that my Mum and Dad contributed wholeheartedly to the warmth of this extremely friendly community. Thanks for organising this website. My Great-great grandfather, John Holmes was born in Over Kellet, (or Upper Kellet as he sometimes filled in the census) in about 1815. He was one of the first recruits into the newly formed Lancashire police force in 1840. I have no idea who his parents were, or how he came to be married to a girl from Devon! He Died in Runcorn in 1879. Can anyone help me out? Tuesday 24 February 2009 - York UK
